Why The Education of Children Is Important

A child should be educated correctly. Children start to learn new things from the first day they are born. However, formal education usually begins at the age of four or five when they begin to attend school. There are many methods of education used in the school setting. Just to name a couple, there are the Montessori Method, Kindergarten, and the play-way method. Educating children using the play-way method is very popular today.

The child like nature of children should be respected; but at the same time their natural inquisitiveness needs to be redirected in a constructive way. Those who teach children at schools must have a sound knowledge of child psychology. Firm rules and strict regulations can hinder the child’s educational proce. If the setting is too rigid it may have a negative influence on the child. This may prove to be hazardous in the future. If the children are tortured by the teachers or parents, they will lose interest in their studies and might stop their education before completion.

Academic progress should not be the only aim of education. It should cater to the well rounded development of the mind and body of the child. A real education given by a loving teacher will shape the character of the child in a positive way. An education which will encourage good character will provide many other benefits as well. A child should be well prepared mentally before learning can begin. For this reason the teacher should motivate him to learn at the beginning of a lesson.

A small child’s attention will not stay fixed on one thing while the teacher is teaching a lesson. It may be diverted quite often. The teacher, who has the responsibility of teaching the child, should keep the lesson interesting by telling different types of stories during the lesson. They may also choose to use a wide variety of activities to keep the child engaged in the learning process.

All children do not learn the same way. Nearly three percent of them are gifted children who will grasp things quickly. If they are not engaged in the lesson they may become classroom discipline problems. Likewise, there will be slow learners in the classroom who may not grasp the subject if the lesson is presented at a faster pace. A good teacher knows how to handle both the gifted children and slow learners so that all can learn.

Educating children should also be well planned by the parents. Responsible parents will help their children at home. They will help their child finish their home work and encourage learning. You will see such children showing a greater interest in learning. The preschool stage is very important, as this shapes the future character of the child to a great extent. By continuous efforts of so many parents and teachers education can become a joyful adventure.
